In her 22 years at ManorCare in Boynton Beach, Marie has shown herself to be a natural caregiver in providing exceptional care for patients, residents and families. She takes the time to make her patients feel special. She is dedicated, caring, responsible and responsive. She has been known to purchase clothing for patients who have no family to provide for them. Often when patients must return to the hospital, they ask for Marie to be there to bathe them because they prefer her to hospital staff. Coworkers single her out as a great team player willing to lend a helping hand to any staff member.

In her time at ManorCare in Easton, Rajvir has been eager to provide insight and learning opportunities to help her coworkers grow professionally. Her work ethic and sharp analytical skills are impressive and help ensure maintenance of strict regulatory guidelines. Coworkers describe her as a dedicated nurse with a true heart of gold. Her ongoing dedication and compassion for her patients and residents provide comfort and a friendly ear. Rajvir is proactive, meticulous and kind and able to juggle multiple high-risk situations. She makes a positive impact on employees, patients, residents and family members with her good communication skills and encouraging attitude.

In her 11 years with Heartland Hospice of Allentown, Laura consistently has set a positive example for others to emulate. She has a great attitude and is always kind to and supportive of coworkers. Her daily encouragement and positivity elevate the performance of staff and help create a pleasant work environment. Laura has a tremendous impact on patients and family members by caring for them, listening to them, and touching their hearts with music and song. One family member stated that her music soothed her mother and made her happy, while another said Laura was a special angel to her mother.

In her 20 years at Arden Courts of Wayne, Yoconda’s quality resident care has set the bar for others in the Arden Courts community. She serves as a trainer/preceptor for all staff on all shifts. She has a fantastic rapport with her residents and always has a positive attitude in her interactions with staff, residents and families. She treats residents with respect, dignity and above all compassion. Yoconda is recognized as a true leader and advocate for the Arden Courts residents. Family members have called her an angel and have said she makes their loved ones feel safe through her professional care.

In her eight years at ManorCare—Tice Valley, Maria has exhibited exceptional professionalism, patience and kindness. Her patients love and appreciate her. Family members praise her and appreciate that their loved ones are under her care. Maria values interactions as unique opportunities to make someone feel better. Griselda has been with Arden Courts of Austin for 17 years, and in just about every one of those years, she has earned Employee of the Month recognition. She was the center’s 2014 Champion of Caring. Griselda is one who genuinely cares about residents and receives compliments on how well groomed her residents are, which goes a long way in maintaining their dignity. She does the right thing even when no one is looking, something that comes naturally to her. She is described by family members as kind, patient, loving, professional, compassionate, extremely positive and always with a smile.

With 39 years of service at ManorCare Health Services—Dubuque, Lynne is one of our longest serving employees, an extraordinary example of someone who embraces our caring philosophy. She does not confine her helpful actions to the activities function but rather assists other departments including nursing and dietary as needed. Lynne gets to know patients and residents to make them feel welcome and to better understand their needs. She listens to patients, with a laughter that is contagious and a spirit that is inspiring. Lynne’s attitude and presence at work are shining examples for all.

In her 15 years at Heartland Health Care Center—North Sarasota, Renee has always been one to count on in providing the highest quality care. Her detailed and accurate documentation is unmatched. Her commitment is exemplified by the fact that she raised six children while advancing her education from CNA to LPN to RN. She also has become a nurse preceptor to teach others the caring nursing principles she embraces. Renee supports families through difficult times with poise and grace, receiving numerous accolades. If you were to pick one person at Heartland North Sarasota who understands and lives helpful, caring and responsive, it would be Renee.

In her seven years at Heartland of Perrysburg, Renee has continually received praise from patients and families for the way she always keeps them in good spirits, answers call lights quickly, and for being friendly and caring. She is always upbeat, supportive of her coworkers and dependable. Renee arrives each day with a smile on her face and goes through her day treating all with whom she comes in contact with dignity and respect. She always ensures her patients are ready for therapy to help them achieve their goals, earning gratitude from the therapy team. “I’m too busy” is not in her vocabulary.

Kristie’s seven years with Heartland Hospice of Somerset have been ones of growth, both as a bereavement coordinator and social worker. In these positions, she has provided comfort to patients and families through one of the most difficult of times. She is described as a constant at the agency, the glue that holds the team together, someone who touches lives every single day. Kristie is the shoulder coworkers lean on and the hand to hold for patients and families. She participates in memorial services requested by personal care homes, never forgets a patient’s birthday and goes out of her way to help anyone in need.

In her nearly 37 years with Heartland Health Care Center—Greenville East, Tammy’s long tenure has provided an invaluable skill set, knowledge and desire to assist in caring for patients. She has provided loving care as a CNA and has served in a number of departments including Restorative Services, Social Services, Medical Records and most recently Activities. She has earned the respect of residents and staff and is viewed as a leader by her peers, always stepping forward with a smile. Ready to accept any challenge, Tammy’s drive, determination, caring and nurturing personality make her an intricate part of the Greenville East team.  

In her 18 years at Arden Courts of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Carol has served as a resident caregiver, med tech, supervisor and mentor. Challenges are no match for Carol’s smile and her amazing ability to connect with people, her devotion to residents’ needs and in providing assistance to co-workers. Co-workers are happy when she’s on duty, and residents and families grateful that she will be caring for them today, which has earned her monthly caring awards. Carol is detail-oriented, always aware of a resident’s specific needs. She has taken CNA courses to improve her resident care and has mentored new employees on providing the best care. 

Brittany’s eight years with ManorCare Health Services—Pottsville, Pennsylvania have been characterized by outstanding performance and great customer service, which earned her the lead LPN position on the rehab unit. Her positive demeanor and caring personality have led to good rapport with patients and their families. Her quiet but confident approach provides a sense of trust with patients. Center leadership has been amazed by her clinical skills, knowledge, attention to detail, compassion and overall ability to handle any task. Brittany has advanced from nurse aide to LPN and has the time management, critical thinking and leadership skills to advance further. 

For 19 years, Andrea has consistently embodied the company’s vision and philosophy of care at ManorCare Health Services in Hemet, California. She has advanced from CNA to her current position and has become the go-to person within the center. She has also stepped in as acting human resources director, performing admirably and demonstrating her broad capabilities. Her commitment in providing the highest level of customer service is evident in all she does, which she demonstrates by serving as an advocate in anticipating the needs of co-workers, patents, families and center visitors. A truly integral part of the ManorCare Hemet team.

In her 17 years at Heartland Hospice of St. Louis, Missouri, Denice has provided superior service to patients and families with great care and patience. Families have described her as the sweetest, most caring person there is, and emphasize her tender care, compassionate touch and generosity in putting the patient first and foremost. Facility staff respect her. Referral sources request her. She gets to know patients in order to provide personalized care. Co-workers so respect her that they request her when their loved ones are on service. Whether inside or out of work, Denice inspires a higher level of compassion and service.

For eight years, Miata has been the role model of hard work and dedication at ManorCare Health Services – Oak Lawn East, Illinois. She has progressed from CNA to LPN and is in school to become an RN. A center leader, she assists with onboarding new hires and is a mentor for new nurses. She is respected by staff in every department for the way she helps out no matter what the need. Miata always displays a positive attitude and has a calming effect on patients she interacts with. She is always thinking outside the box to avoid potential issues.

For nearly 10 years, Ursula has been the “face” and “voice” of Arden Courts of Richardson, Texas. She is described as the perfect example of the warm, smiling welcoming person you want greeting visitors. Her caring spirit shines through all she does. Ursula puts others first, and her positive attitude is infectious. She is flexible in adjusting her hours to accommodate facility needs and is always taking on additional responsibilities in the department. She also often has worked in other departments to help when needed. She truly loves being part of residents’ lives, one who makes a lasting impression.

Kathy is one of the company’s longest serving employees, now in her 42^nd year. Her work is more than a job to her, and her caring is a difference maker. Kathy mentors new nursing assistants, always gives 100 percent to her patients and is responsive to family members in their time of need. Center management has noted that they are blessed to have her as part of their team.

For going on five years, Ophelia has been living her lifelong ambition of a career in nursing at ManorCare Health Services in Potomac, Maryland. After immigrating to the U.S. due to civil war in her native Liberia, she persisted in her education and work experience until attaining her nursing degree. The result has been an employee who has been described as dedicated, conscientious, respectful, perceptive and versatile. She is well-liked and daily serves as an inspiration to those she works with who may be considering a career in nursing.

For 12 years, Debra has been known for her care and compassion toward residents, families and fellow employees at Arden Courts of Parma, Ohio. Affectionately known as the “energizer bunny,” her boundless energy is combined with unsurpassed creativity to identify, respond and fulfill the needs of residents and assisting other staff members. In almost every year since she was first employed, she has been named an Employee of the Month at the center. She uses good judgment when determining appropriate programs for those in her care. Her abundant empathy, problem-solving skills and positive attitude make her a terrific role model.

In his six years at ManorCare Health Services in Dunedin, Florida, Marcel has excelled with his unwavering positivity, helpful and caring spirit, and outstanding work ethic. He takes every opportunity to greet patients and families by name and with a smile. He is all about working hard and doing whatever it takes to assist others on the team, always putting patients first. He has received more compliments on his customer service and professionalism than anyone else on the ManorCare Dunedin team. Dedication is in his blood. When you ask him to do something, you can trust it will get done and get done right.

Sheila eagerly helps people who get overwhelmed by the grieving process, and for 12 years she has worked tirelessly to minister to bereaved families at Heartland Hospice of Beltsville, Maryland. She holds twice-monthly grief workshops, bereavement/grief camps, community workshops and an annual memorial service. Her goal for the memorial service is to help families receive healing and move toward acceptance. She recognizes that while the experiences of losing a loved one are similar, people have unique needs in dealing with loss. She has expressed that you’re never blessed until you get a job you love, and she loves her job.

In her five years with Heartland Health Care Center—Briarwood in Flint, Michigan, Deon has been greatly respected by her coworkers, supervisors and patients. She promotes the Briarwood center to new employees as somewhere you can learn and grow, which leads to a high level of care. Coworkers describe her as kind-hearted, one who treats patients as number one and her fellow staff a close second. Deon continues to advance her education through attending nursing school. She enthusiastically jumps in to ease staffing needs, a caring, selfless and genuine individual.

Although only employed at ManorCare Health Services—North Hills in Pittsburgh for a little over a year, she has already made an impression with her jubilant spirit and welcoming nature. Her activity programs are run with a passion that exudes laughter and fun moments. She makes all those around her feel special and cherished. Her supervisor states that there is always sunshine when Janet enters the building, as her soul touches all those around her. She is always willing to help out no matter which department needs assistance and to listen to a patient who just needs someone to talk with.

In his more than 20 years with ManorCare Health Services in Hinsdale, Illinois, Stephen has advanced through a variety of positions of increasing responsibility. His work ethic is defined by his dedication to take on any task and his flexibility and willingness to aid coworkers in need. He regularly leads facility committees, including the annual Hug Fund campaign. He is technology savvy, helping solve issues that come up. Stephen is described by patients and coworkers alike as dependable and respectful, with a positive and approachable attitude, always upbeat and a truly valuable asset to the center. For more than 10 years at ManorCare Health Services in Decatur, Georgia, Dwayne has exhibited a helpful nature and beautiful spirit. Carla’s calming and graceful demeanor complement her work ethic and professionalism in caring for the patients and families of Heartland Hospice of Broward in Plantation, Florida. Family members have described her as never rushed, always soft-spoken and sympathetic, and a good listener. Her kind and gentle nature are ever-present in providing guidance and support. She is strong but gentle in dealing with challenging situations and there to support her team when shorthanded. In his nearly 20 years with ManorCare Health Services in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, Tony has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help ensure the center runs smoothly. He is responsible for the linen carts and laundry for the entire center, always maintaining a calm composure in ensuring needs are met for the day. His step-by-step approach to getting the job done have made him a valued member of the ManorCare Health Services team.

This year, Deborah celebrated her 20th year with Arden Courts of Wayne, New Jersey, which also celebrated its 20th anniversary. She is compassionate and always shows a positive attitude. Even on challenging days, she remains calm and in a state of what’s been called “constant caregiving.” She is an asset when families tour, noting that they will like what they find at Arden Courts. Deborah is regularly mentioned positively in family surveys and letters, with one noting the secure feeling he had knowing his dad was in such caring hands. She is well-respected by coworkers and family members alike.

In her 12 years with Arden Courts of Pikesville, Amber has projected an energetic and enthusiastic personality, perfect for giving those in her care a spark of life on a continual basis. She is described as an amazing program creator, always coming up with new ideas, thinking outside the box and executing flawlessly. Her activities fill the room with a crowd of people, and she is dedicated to ensuring everyone is included in activities. But her talents go beyond programs, as she assists with general care, showers, residents’ hair, meals and anything else needed. She takes care of the whole resident with compassion and patience.

Over the course of her 13 years with ManorCare Nursing & Rehab Center—Kingsford, Michigan, Angie has advanced her education from CNA to registered nurse. Her dedication to patients and staff includes being the first to respond to a call for assistance, and doing so with a smile and genuine interest in helping others. She has served as a CNA team leader, nurse preceptor and transfer mobility coach. Angie knows the intricate, individual details of her patients’ preferences and ensures patients are ready for their day. She is an asset in skillfully communicating changes in patient condition to physicians. She is a leader.

For more than 20 years at Donahoe Manor, Linda has proven time and again she is a caregiver with heart, receiving numerous verbal and written compliments from patients and families. All evening CNAs orient with her, which has garnered her repeated compliments from her “students.” A true mentor. She is very responsive to patient needs, always doing the little things that make patients feel welcome. Linda covers open shifts when staffing is short and has been singled out for her humility and compassion. Coworkers have found her to be kind and professional, an exceptional leader who truly loves her work.

A four-year employee with Heartland Hospice in Tucson, Genie has built a solid and effective volunteer program, reaching 11 percent volunteer hours out of total patient care hours versus a Medicare program target of 5 percent. One volunteer notes that Genie makes you feel as if you’re the best person to be with patients, while another states Genie cares for patients like no one she has ever met. She not only understands the needs of patients and their families, but also how to inspire and motivate the volunteers who serve them. She continually looks for ways to go above and beyond Heartland’s mission in both patient care and community outreach.

Although he has only been with Heartland of Columbia Rehab and Nursing for one year, Terry has already made his mark. He came to Heartland with a pedigree, as his father was director of maintenance at the center. From his father, he learned the importance of customer service and providing a clean and safe living environment for patients. Faced with a life-changing medical condition and surgery that left his work future in doubt, Terry showed his great determination in meeting the challenge and returning to Heartland to the benefit of patients, staff and visitors.

Co-workers have trouble remembering a time when LeDrew did not have a smile on his face or cheerful hello in his time at ManorCare Health Services—Allentown, Pennsylvania. Patients note that they look forward to seeing him and that his daily greeting make their day. He is described as the type of person who will help anyone do anything just because he cares. LeDrew is a go-to person for nurses and aides who need the help he can provide, never afraid to roll up his sleeves to assist. He goes about his tasks with pride and a smile, the type employee everyone wishes for.

In her nearly eight years with Arden Courts of Westlake, Ohio, Michele is described as a team player like no other. She is upbeat, kind and compassionate, and a wonderful representative of the HCR ManorCare values. While making residents’ rooms and the entire memory care center sparkle, she goes beyond with her versatility to assist residents with their meals, assist with programming, help with restocking and calm residents in need. Michele amazes with what she accomplishes and is the epitome of being helpful, caring and responsive in every way, every day.

In his more than 14 years at ManorCare Health Services—Decatur, Georgia, Keith has been known for his gentleness, soft touch and ability to make patients feel special. He always has a smile for everyone, and takes the time to really get to know his patients and their families. He stays in touch with patients after their therapy and even follows up with them after discharge to see how they are getting along. Keith is exceptionally patient and kind and works with the center’s most challenging patients, often getting results when no one else can. He is first to volunteer for anyone needing help.

In her three years with Heartland Hospice of Davenport, Iowa, Chrissy is celebrated for her commitment to Heartland, her team members and, most importantly, her patients. Patients and their families often single her out through thank you cards. Despite some transportation issues, Chrissy has achieved an enviable attendance record and has always made sure patients received the care and caring they needed. She never complains, and has been commended for her commitment and the spirited way she goes about her responsibilities.

Stephanie’s 17 years with ManorCare Health Services—Davenport, Iowa have been distinguished by her heart-driven action to be helpful, caring and responsive. She has vision where others have blinders, a trait proving to be contagious with coworkers. Teamwork is a particular strength, as she helps patients get dressed and get to meals and therapies when employees call off. Her kindness and heart spill into the community as she works with shelters and pantries to assist homeless patients discharging from the center. A pillow and blanket are a gift from her to discharged patients, and she continues to help those who might have a need.

Anthony has been a dedicated employee of Heartland of Uptown Westerville for four years. He is held in high regard by the facility management team, patients and residents, and family members. Coworkers have said Anthony goes above and beyond to meet the needs and requests of patients and family members. He remains calm under stress and always treats each patient with love, respect and patience. Family members similarly have commented on his calm and patience when a patient is having a bad day. He willingly steps in to assist when necessary to ease the stress of others’ daily responsibilities.

In her more than 12 years with Heartland Health Care Center—Fort Myers, Fla., Edele has distinguished herself as a compassionate and caring CNA. Working in the challenging Thalia dementia unit, she has developed a calming rapport with residents and families that testifies to her passion for dementia care. Family members know they can rest easy with their loved one in her care. She doesn’t let the strenuous nature of dementia care diminish her care and performance, even picking up extra shifts when there’s a need. She is described as an essential asset whose attention to detail provides comfort to residents and their families.

Susan’s nine years of service with Heartland Hospice—Brunswick, Ga. have involved endless hours helping caregivers and families through their loved ones’ final journey. Each hospice patient and caregiver experiences her outstanding customer service in all aspects related to communication and quality care. Families express that she brings special care physically and mentally that exceed all expectations. They recognize her genuineness and professionalism in putting patients and family members at ease. Her efforts extend widely including volunteering for Honor Flights to Washington, taking meals to hospice and family members on holidays, volunteering for projects in the community and working on last wish events.

Yvonne has been a celebrated caregiver at Arden Courts of King of Prussia, Pa. for 10 years. Although already credentialed in a variety of areas, she continues to advance her education. She moves easily among roles, and no job is too big or small. Yvonne brings a “wow” factor to the memory care center’s census culture that has been key to many move-ins. Her engaging personality has helped her house to remain fully occupied most of the time. She leads the center’s shadowing program and is a valued mentor. Yvonne is 100 percent about making the residents’ lives better and proof that one person can make a difference.

Mirlande has been a steady presence for staff and family members on her unit at ManorCare—King of Prussia for 12 years. She is a natural leader who focuses on nursing basics and makes her job 100 percent about her patients. Early in 2017, she was recognized with an honorable mention for the Gwynedd Mercy University Nurse Excellence Award. Mirlande is committed to the health, safety and care of her patients and is known for her comforting way with family members and her guidance of nursing assistants. She exhibits every day the caring we seek in our staff.

Mike has been with Heartland Hospice for 14 years following a 20-year stint in the Air Force. He has worked through personal loss to mold an end-of-life calling based on compassion, honesty and dignity. Today, Mike is going through a terminal battle with pancreatic cancer at the same time his wife is dealing with terminal liver cancer, but he continues to help others through their end-of-life journey while on one of his own. He amazes his coworkers with his patient-focused dedication. Leading by example is an inspiration to his entire agency, the facilities he visits, and the patients and families he touches.

Darline has been caring for residents of Arden Courts of Ft. Myers for nearly five years. The way Darline goes about her daily responsibilities is a roadmap for guiding fellow employees on the helpful, caring and responsive path to resident and family member satisfaction. She is a strong advocate for the residents under her care, establishing rapport and respecting each as the individual he or she is. Darline projects calmness, even on the longest of days, and is humble in her approach, effecting a lasting and positive impression on all she encounters. A consummate team player, always willing to assist without being asked.

Maria Moors has been with ManorCare—Venice for over 10 years. The smile on her face and in her voice is considered the center’s first and best impression for all those who enter. She is described by coworkers as vivacious, dependable, energetic and compassionate. Family members note that she has a special talent for relating to people, making you smile, even on the hardest of days. Maria takes to memory every patient, family member, staff member and community partner, showing attentiveness well beyond her receptionist duties. Her warm greetings have led to an enviable number of positive Care Line calls.

Jacqueline has been providing therapy for patients at Heartland—Livonia for more than six years. Patients treated by her love her for her performance and commitment. Communication is a strong attribute, ensuring each patient is cared for, encouraging patients to reach their individualized goals and getting even the most reluctant of patients to come for their therapy sessions. Jacqueline is an instrumental part of Heartland—Livonia’s bariatric program. She is at the forefront in center fundraising and team-building events and has developed strong relationships with coworkers. Her sunny disposition and ever-present smile warmly welcome everyone. 

Pam has been spreading the helpful, caring and responsive philosophy at ManorCare—Barberton for 28 years. She takes new staff under her wing, and coworkers view her as a mentor and friend. A bad day never shows for Pam, as she never complains. She doesn’t seek recognition for her work, but a patient has described her as having the biggest heart in the world. In 2016, she was honored as November’s Hero of Long-Term Care by the Ohio Health Care Association. Pam was born to take care of people, and it shows every day. She treats each as someone special.

Ruthie is a 10-year employee at ManorCare—Tacoma. Her upbeat, positive attitude has earned the respect of coworkers and patients alike, leading to multiple monthly Employee of the Month awards and Employee of the Year recognition. She is quick to help out wherever needed and always puts others before herself. Her presence is calming and soothing, and she is gifted at building trusting and meaningful relationships. Ruthie’s “can do” attitude and bright smile brighten the lives of everyone she encounters and model the behavior desired of every employee. Her warmth is a beacon welcoming all patients and family members.

Sonia has been a caregiver at ManorCare—Elk Grove Village for 21 years. She makes a point of learning patients’ names, and they know hers. She takes pride in her work and is a stickler for detail. She instills her strong work ethic in the housekeeping staff she trains, which has led to a remarkable housekeeping team with excellent customer service scores. Her HRD holds her up in orientation as the example of how employees should respond to customer needs and concerns. She has a caring, positive attitude and goes out of her way to make sure patients are safe.

Michael has been at the Village of Westerville Retirement Center for 20 years. He rides his bike to work, rain or shine, and until some significant health care issues worsened, never missed a day of work. He is a true leader in the dietary department, training new dining room employees with patience and a sunny disposition. Michael always goes out of his way to make sure he knows the likes and dislikes of the residents he serves.

Tanya has been serving Heartland Hospice patients for a little over a year. Her paperwork is characterized by meticulous detail and accuracy, and always is turned in timely. She has been the subject of numerous complimentary Care Line calls and “Caught You Caring” cards. Facilities where our patients make their home ask for Tanya by name because they know they can always count on her. Her positive and uplifting attitude has led her to be chosen to head up her agency’s “Fun Committee” so she can pass along her exuberance to her agency coworkers.

Agnes had been with ManorCare—Kingsford for nine years and in that time has been named her center’s monthly Champion of Caring four times and was named the center’s Champion of Caring for the year 2015. She advanced from CNA to RN and also serves as a nurse preceptor, providing excellent job training and support for new nurses. She often picks up shifts or remains past her shift and has filled in as a nurse’s aide in times of need. She has been mentioned in many post-discharge thank you cards, customer satisfaction surveys and patient testimonials. 

Renita has been with ManorCare—Ruxton for six years. She greets everyone she comes in contact with. Her skill with crafts and developing fun and stimulating programs has turned the memory care unit into a home for residents. She is the Ruxton cheerleader in planning and creatively decorating for special events and a morale booster with her goodies for staff and patient parties and fundraisers. She also oversees the beauty shop and helps train new hires. In addition, she has an eye and an ear for picking up on changes in patients’ conditions and passing the information on to medical staff.

Griselda has been with Arden Courts of Austin for 15 years, and in just about every one of those years, she has earned Employee of the Month recognition. She was the center’s 2014 Champion of Caring.
